The New HMDA: Fair Lending, Econometrics, and Beyond | ABA Business Law Spring Meeting 2017

This year’s American Bar Association (ABA) Business Law Spring Meeting will take place from April 6-8, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Edgeworth Partner Dr. Stephen Bronars will speak on the panel, “The New HMDA: Fair Lending, Econometrics, and Beyond.”

Beyond implementation and compliance questions, the new HMDA data raises questions about how the data may be used in empirical analyses. This presentation provides a look into how regression analysis works and how an understanding of business practices and consumer choices plays a role in determining the appropriate analysis. The panel will walk through some common concerns in implementing regression analysis using examples related to proposed new HMDA data fields, including points and fees, race and ethnicity, and open-ended credit.
