Profile

Dr. Michael Meneses specializes in economic modeling and statistical methods within the context of antitrust and competition. In his past work, he has used large panel datasets to analyze economic behavior, employing both reduced form and structural econometrics. His technical expertise includes optimal-control-based economic models and multiple statistical programming languages. His casework spans industries including the transportation sector and manufacturing.

Dr. Meneses’s academic research focused on modeling producer behavior in the agricultural sector and nonmarket valuation of farm assets. In his dissertation he uses data on producer management choices to detect discrepancies between observed and optimal production strategies in the California crop sector, and simulates expected economic gains from improved management. For this work, Dr. Meneses received the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association’s 2026 Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award. During his graduate studies he earned several other research, teaching, service, and travel awards, and was a Graduate School Dean’s Scholar from 2024 to 2025.

Education

Dr. Meneses earned his PhD and MSc in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University. Following his PhD completion he was a postdoctoral scholar at Yale University. He earned his BA from Brown University.
