Survey Methodology and Reliability

Edgeworth Partner Dr. Stephen G. Bronars submitted an expert report and testified before an administrative law judge in a case involving whether or not a state wage survey was methodologically sound and reliable for the purpose of establishing prevailing wages.

In his report and testimony, Dr. Bronars showed that the survey was not methodologically sound for several reasons, including insufficient sample size and inappropriate timing considering the seasonal nature of the job, and did not meet Department of Labor standards.

Citing Dr. Bronars’s testimony, the judge ruled that the survey was not reliable.
